Dr. Melvin Mahone was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was a student of education through its public school system. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving proudly in Vietnam, and earned the distinguished honorable discharge after combat. Upon his return to America, he graduated with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Individualization/Sociology and Corrections from Chicago State University in Chicago, Illinois in 1975 &1977.
In 2002, Dr. Mahone graduated from Union Institute & University located in Cincinnati, Ohio, earning the prestigious Ph.D. in Criminal Justice/Corrections. He founded and is the owner/operator of GM&M Motivational Speaking & Training, Ill, established in 2011.
He is a member of the National Speakers Association (NSA) and is a past "Fellow" of the American Institute of Stress. He is also a past member of the Augusta Toastmasters Club, 326.
Dr. Mahone is the author of "Coping With Stress and Building Leadership: One Man's Journey," " Prison Privatization in America: Costs and Benefit," "Diversity in College Education," "Use Your Past to Make You an Effective Leader," and "The Autobiography and Life of a Bureaucrat."
He has 31 years of speaking experience. He has a total of 21 years of experience as an Assistant Criminal Justice professor. He has 3 years of experience as a Manager at 2 colleges. His presentation styles are the following: Keynote, Trainer, Panelist, and Virtual.

He is an Assistant Professor of Sociology/Criminal Justice at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. He currently makes his home in Grovetown, Georgia with his wife Patricia Ann Mahone.
